Diagnoising a child with ADHD: warning signs and treatment

SAN ANTONIO – School is back in session, and KSAT 12 Health and Wellness Expert Almouie Pediatrics is answering questions about A.D.H.D. and how it could possibly be affecting your child's school experience.

"We're the only pediatric practice in San Antonio, and probably the only pediatric practice in the nation, who can see A.D.H.D. patients in the same day," said Dr. Muhammad Almouie. "That's huge for parents. sometimes they have to go to three different offices to accomplish what they can accomplish in one visit here."

Dr. Almouie said A.D.H.D. warning signs to look for in your child are failure to finish tasks, always on the go, restlessness, poor attention span, forgetfulness, excessive movement, disruptive to others and avoiding schoolwork.

He said the most common age to test for A.D.H.D. is 6 years old

He said the first step is diagnostic testing, and then picking a treatment that's right for you and your family.

Almouie Pediatrics is a full service pediatric practice, offering healthcare for newborns, children and teens.

Services include all immunizations, school physicals, acne treatments, A.D.D., A.D.H.D., skin disorders, weight management, and treatment of allergy and asthma disorders.

Almouie Pediatrics has three San Antonio locations that offer separate “sick” and “well” waiting rooms to minimize infectious disease exposure risks to newborns and well children coming in for check-ups and physicals.

They offer same day appointments as well as a full in-office laboratory, and accept all insurances and also have extended after hours available.
