Woman shot while sleeping in her home

Victim in serious but stable condition at University Hospital

SAN ANTONIO – A 23-year-old woman was shot in the stomach while she was asleep in her home early Monday morning.

San Antonio police said the woman told them she was asleep in her home in the 500 block of South Spring Street around 12:30 a.m. when someone broke in through the front door and shot her in the stomach.

She was taken to University Hospital in serious but stable condition.

Police said they didn't find any sign of forced entry. The woman also couldn't provide police with a description of the shooter.
