Wild pursuit ends in crash involving sheriff's deputy

Suspects attempted to flee scene

SAN ANTONIO – A wild pursuit ended in a crash involving a Bexar County deputy and suspects fleeing on foot before being caught.

Bexar County Sheriff Susan Pamerleau said the deputy spotted a Mustang driving recklessly on O’Connor at Crestway. The deputy started to follow and the driver hit a van pulling out of a store. The van then collided with the deputy’s vehicle.

Pamerleau said the driver in the Mustang kept going but then crashed. She said two teens jumped out of the Mustang and started to run but were quickly caught.

The driver was also caught, and deputies found marijuana in the car," Pamerleau said.

Pamerleau said the deputy was injured and taken to University Hospital, but is expected to be OK.

The driver of the van was shaken up but sustained no injuries.
