2 dead, including gunman, in shooting at Katy transportation building

DPS: Disgruntled employee fatally shot coworker, injured another

HARRIS COUNTY, Texas – 2 people have been killed including the suspected gunman following a shooting in West Harris County at a transportation building, the Westlake Volunteer Fire Department said Wednesday.

The shooting was reported around 9 a.m. at the Knight Transportation building, found in the 20400 block of Franz Road near Katy, Texas.

Law enforcement officials said a man with a shotgun entered the building and fired multiple shots. The Texas Department of Public Safety has told KSAT 12's sister station KPRC that a disgruntled employee fatally shot a coworker, and injured another. The shooter is reported to be dead.

The building is located across the street from Franz Elementary and Morton Ranch High School, both of the Katy Independent School District. The schools are presently on lockdown.

The Harris County Precinct 5 Constable's Office also confirms multiple people have been shot.
