Suspect arrested in September shooting of man

Demoria Harris, 20, charged with capital murder

SAN ANTONIO – Demoria Harris, 20, has been arrested on a charge of capital murder in connection with the shooting death of a man on the city's Southeast Side last September.

An arrest warrant affidavit stated that Rolando Ramos, 19, was shot during what was supposed to have been a drug deal.

San Antonio police officers found him dead inside a car that crashed in the 3200 block of Martin Luther King Drive on Sept. 6. However, they soon realized that he had suffered a gunshot wound.

The affidavit stated that during their investigation, detectives spoke with a witness who told them that Ramos had met up with Harris to buy drugs. The witness said Harris then took Ramos to another location where he attempted to rob him with the help of at least one other person.

The witness told police that when Ramos put up a fight, a gunshot rang out, the affidavit stated.

Although he was wounded, Ramos sped away from the scene and ultimately crashed.

The affidavit stated that police heard from at least one other witness who identified Harris as a suspect, and they also obtained evidence linking him to the crime.

Although the affidavit mentions that others were involved in the crime, there is no mention of any other arrests yet. Police said the case is still under investigation.
