A motorcycle rider was found dead Saturday morning after his crashed bike was found burning on Interstate 35, just west of downtown.

Officers got a call around 9:30 a.m. regarding a body found in a locked parking lot on the grounds of the University of Texas at San Antonio below I-35 near South Alamo.

When officers arrived, they saw the body of the victim in the parking lot. They said it appeared the man had crashed his motorcycle while riding on I-35, then fell off the highway and landed on the university property.

San Antonio police said they had found the crashed bike burning hours earlier on I-35, but could not find the rider.

They believe the body found Saturday morning is the rider of that bike because the rider had a helmet on, and clothing from the body matches shreds found on a highway reflector on I-35.
