Police make arrest in fatal shooting of man, 19

Darnell Allen Lee charged in slaying of Brandon Pizana

SAN ANTONIO – A 20-year-old man was arrested Tuesday in connection with a robbery that ended in fatal gunfire.

Darnell Allen Lee was charged with murder in the shooting death of 19-year-old Brandon Pizana.

Police investigators said Lee and another man went to Pizana's home in the 200 block of Montrose Street on Aug. 2 to rob someone.

During the robbery, Lee pointed a gun at Pizana, but he was able to wrestle the gun away, police said. Moments later, the other man shot and killed the victim, San Antonio police spokesman Sgt. Jesse Salame said.

Police investigators initially believed that Pizana may have committed suicide because his body was found next to the gun, Salame said. Now, they believe Pizana wasn't even the man the robbers were looking for.

"The victim was apparently mistakenly targeted. They believed he was somebody else," Salame said. "It appears at this point he wasn't doing anything wrong, but (was) defending himself, and they shot and killed him."

Police are looking for the shooter.
