New Braunfels man arrested on child porn charge

NEW BRAUNFELS, Texas – Police in New Braunfels have arrested 32-year-old Ronnie Daniel Smith on one count of possession of child pornography.

Investigators began looking into Smith's activities in May following a tip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children Cyber Tip Line. An IP address located at a home in the 1200 block of Bluff Creek Circle was then found to be used to upload child porn.

Electronic storage devices belonging to Smith were found to contain numerous images and videos depicting apparent child pornography.

Smith was arrested and booked into the Comal County Jail with bond set at $50,000. As of 10:15 a.m. Tuesday, Smith has not posted bond. Possession of child pornography is a third-degree felony punishable by two to 10 years in prison and a fine up to $10,000.

Investigators are working to identify the child victims. Police do not believe they are from the New Braunfels area.
