Man shot in shoulder on East Side

Victim taken to SAMMC for treatment

SAN ANTONIO – San Antonio police are investigating a shooting on the city's East Side that left a man with a bullet in his shoulder.

The shooting happened around 3:40 p.m. in the 300 block of Cactus Street.

Police said the shooting appears to have taken police in a back bedroom of the home where the victim lived.

Police believe the man left the home to try to get help and collapsed in the street, where neighbors found him and called police.

The landlord who owns the home told police he heard people talking and one gunshot. Police said other nearby residents also heard one gunshot.

Police are looking for a person of interest in the shooting who was seen walking in the area where the man collapsed. Police said the person of interest is a Hispanic male carrying a black backpack. They are not sure if he's connected to the shooting.

The landlord said the victim has only lived at the home for a few weeks. He told police he does not know the victim's name.

The victim was taken to San Antonio Military Medical Center in critical condition. Police said he appears to be around 30 years old.
