FRIDAY

Two more shows were added Friday for the upcoming tour of country western star Garth Brooks at the AT&T Center in San Antonio. The new shows are scheduled for July 23 at 10:30 p.m. and July 24 at 7:30 p.m. || A Central Texas mother has been charged with murder after New Braunfels police said she insisted that her husband to shoot and kill her son. Jennifer Coryell, 43, has been charged with the murder of her son Felix Antonio Nieves, 17. || Police are looking for Frank Gomez, 28, in connection with the death of Iris Rodriguez, 7. Rodriguez was shot in the head Wednesday night as she and her mom were walking down the street.

THURSDAY

Three soldiers died Thursday and six others are missing after their light medium tactical vehicle got caught in high water in Owl Creek. The six missing soldiers are from the 3rd Battalion, 16th Field Artillery Regiment, 2nd Armored Brigade Combat Team, 1st Cavalry Division. || A 7-year-old girl who was shot in the head following a disturbance on the city's West Side has died, family members told KSAT 12 News on Thursday. Iris and her mother were walking around 10:15 p.m. Wednesday in the 5500 block of San Fernando Street when a vehicle involved in some type of disturbance pulled up to them and opened fire, police said. || A man who firefighters said was screaming for help as he clung to a tree was rescued Thursday morning from raging flood waters in east Bexar County. The rescue unfolded around 8 a.m. on Abbott Road near Interstate 10 and FM 1518, where St. Hedwig firefighters heard screams while putting up barricades.

TUESDAY

Lt. Governor Dan Patrick announced Tuesday he’s encouraging the state’s 1,200 school districts to ignore last month’s federal directive over bathroom rights for transgender students. Patrick has said previously that Texas is willing to give up billions in federal dollars for education rather than comply. || The Comal River in New Braunfels is closed to all recreational activity and the Guadalupe River is flowing too fast for activity due to heavy rains, the New Braunfels Police Department said. || After a yearslong decline, Medina Lake is at full capacity and then some. "Everybody out here's been waiting a long time for this," said Crandall, who runs Wally's Watersports and a waterskiing school. "Businesses were going out of business. The public quit coming out. So now, it's like day and night."

MONDAY

Parishioners at St. Benedict's Church gathered Monday morning for a special Memorial Day mass to honor fallen members of the military. Instead, the service became a tribute to their parish priest, Father Eddie Bernal, who died Sunday night of an apparent heart attack. || Recreation on the Guadalupe River inside the New Braunfels city limits will be limited to guided raft trips beginning Tuesday, city officials said. Water release from Canyon Lake due to flooding will make conditions for most forms of recreation, including tubing and most forms of rafting and kayaking, dangerous, city public information officer Sheri Masterson said. || The Edgewood Independent School District honored fallen soldiers on Memorial Day by unveiling a special monument at Kennedy High School. The monument, the fourth on campus, pays tribute to all Americans killed in combat and to all living men and women in uniform.

Mother Nature wreaks havoc

Mother Nature caused all kinds of problems on Memorial Day weekend, as storms dumped heavy rain in the San Antonio area. A 23-year-old woman from Houston was killed in Comfort after the car she was in was swept away by floodwaters. The driver made it to shore and a female passenger was rescued from a tree. In Bandera, storms caused chaos. Folks at a trailer park had to be evacuated after the Medina River rose fast. The roof caved in at the city newspaper and vendors who were hoping to cash in at a cowboy festival had their hearts broken when they arrived to find a mess of mangled tents, booths, and wet merchandise. Plus, a 29-year-old man is lucky to be alive after he fell into a swollen Leon Creek. The man hung onto trees and debris before he was rescued by the San Antonio Fire Department.

Huge Loss

Parishoners at St. Benedict's Church got some shocking and sad news Sunday night when they learned their pastor died. The Rev. Eddie Bernal died at his residence of natural causes. Father Eddie, as he was known, was a popular figure to Catholics and non-Catholics for his preaching and his personality.

Tense Moments

A gorilla goes ape at the Cincinnati Zoo on Saturday, when it dragged a young boy who had fallen into its enclosure. The gorilla picked the boy up and dragged him for around 10 minutes. Moments later, zoo officials had no choice but to shoot and kill the gorilla. The boy is OK.

Way to go, San Antonio

Hundreds of people showed up at Animal Care Services Saturday to foster or adopt an animal. The community support comes a day after ACS made a public plea for help. The shelter feared they would have to start euthanizing animals after taking in more than 600 dogs and cats this week.

Dumb criminals, FTW!

The Bexar County Sheriff’s Office is looking for two men they say tried to break into a home in Northwest Bexar County. In the video you see one of the men break a window, cutting himself in the process and leaving a trail of DNA evidence for investigators to use against him in court. #SlowClapForThatWinner
