Converse home where woman found dead had prior trouble, neighbors say

Still no positive ID on victim, 26

SAN ANTONIO, TX – Bexar County sheriff’s deputies had visited a Converse home one day before a woman was found dead there, neighbors said.

The victim, a 26-year-old, was found on the floor of the kitchen around 6:30 p.m. Sunday.  Sheriff’s spokesman James Keith said at the scene that she had suffered some sort of head trauma.

Keith said deputies were responding to a call from the victim’s mother when they arrived at the home in the 8100 block of Chestnut Barr.

She told dispatchers she was concerned after not being able to contact her daughter.

As of 10 a.m. Monday, the Bexar County Medical Examiner’s Office still had not determined an exact cause of death or made a positive identification of the woman.

Keith said the sheriff’s office is handling the case as a homicide and that investigators have identified one or two possible suspects.

Several neighbors told KSAT 12 News that the area seemed to be experiencing an increase in crime lately.  However, they had not seen any violence of this nature.

One woman who did not want to be identified said she did notice deputies at that same home one day prior to the victim being found.

“My husband heard gunshots Saturday morning around 3 a.m.,” she said.

No one with the sheriff’s office was able to offer details about that earlier incident right away or say if it may be related to the homicide.

At the scene Sunday, Keith said investigators did not believe the woman’s murder was random.
