Burglarized East Side church missing thousands in audio equipment

Amplifiers, mixer stolen from sanctuary

SAN ANTONIO – A small East Side church that was burglarized overnight is now missing thousands in audio equipment from its sanctuary.

A church member showed up Friday at the Prince of Peace Baptist Church for choir practice and saw the damage to the door and a mess in the sanctuary.

A few amplifiers and a mixer were stole, totaling more than $2,000 in damage.

The pastor of the church said the close-knit congregation of about 50 are already struggling to keep the church going with what they have.

"We just have to pray and hope someone is going to help get us some equipment, because we're borrowing these people's stuff. If these things come up missing, we're going to have to pay for it too,” said Iris Woodard-James, pastor of Prince of Peace Baptist Church.

Woodard James said the church plans to hold its regular Sunday service at 11 a.m.
