Police search for pickups in connection with death of Gumaro Castaneda-Escatel

SEGUIN, Texas – The Seguin Police Department has released the name of a man whose body was found Tuesday under the Guadalupe Bridge along Highway 123.

The body of Gumaro Castaneda-Escatel, 54, was found just before 5 p.m. Tuesday under the bridge near River Shade RV Park and the Guadalupe River.

A concerned citizen spotted the body, which had been there for several days, police said.

Investigators are approaching the death as a homicide. Police are looking for two pickup trucks in connection with Castaneda-Escatel's death.

"We're asking the public's help (in) identifying a black dually pickup truck that was seen pulling out a vehicle. We're asking the public to identify that driver or subjects involved in that so that we can talk to them," Seguin police spokesman Officer Carlos Contreras said.

Police said they are also looking for someone who fishes in the area and drives a white Ford F-150.

Anyone with information on the case is asked to call the Criminal Investigation Division of the Seguin Police Department at 830-379-2123.

Police have not released the name or age of the man whose body was found. His death is considered suspicious.
